At Hilton we have a special program called Accelerated Reader (AR).  It is a program to help students learn to read properly right from the start.  They are encouraged to read carefully so they understand and can remember what they have read.  Students choose books from our library, the public library, or their own collection at home that are on the Hilton AR quiz list. (You can access our list from the AR Lists link on this site. Students can take quizzes in their classroom or come down to the lab!

Encourage your children to get involved in the AR program, it's a lot of fun!  Hilton's goal for each student grades 1-3, is to read 2 AR books a month.  They do not have to score 100% to have the quiz count toward their goals.  It is more important that they pick books that are appropriate to their reading level and that they enjoy reading them.  This along with creating good reading habits is what the AR program is all about!  The certificate program is just a way to encourage them to read books that are at age appropriate levels.  We all need an incentive from time to time and that is what the certificate program provides.

A list of students who have received AR award certificates this year can be viewed by way of the AR Awards link below!

Happy Reading!!!
