Accelerated Reader Certificate Information

          As in the past your children are able to take reading quizzes on books that they have read as long as they are found on our AR quiz list.  The goals and requirements for our AR program are listed below.  As your children pass AR quizzes and earn points for those quizzes, they can earn the following certificates:

  1^st grade: Ready Reader – Read books and earn 5 points.                    

               Independent Reader – Read books at a 1.2 level or higher and earn 10 points.

2^nd grade:  Rising Reader – Read books at a 1.6 level or higher and earn 10 points.

  3^rd grade

 Super Reader – Read 3 books at a 2.0 level or higher that are worth at least 1.0 point each.  

                  Advanced Reader – Read 3 books at a 3.0 level or higher that are worth at least 2 points each.

                  Star Reader – Read 3 books at a 4.0 level or higher that are worth at least 4 points each.

                  Classic Reader – Read 3 books at a 6.0 level or higher that are worth at least 7 points each.  

       In order to determine which certificate goal your child is working toward you must look at their most recent quiz report.  Under the line on which the teacher's signature appears is the goal they are working toward.

Book points start at .5 and go as high as 32 for some Harry Potter books.  In order to receive points for a book and have it count toward their certificate goal the student must pass the quiz for that book with a score of 80% or higher.  The student will only receive the full point value for the book if he/she gets 100%.  A fraction of the point value is assigned for lower scores.
